Square Pegs
(USA) 20min. DIR Ben Hicks
A teenage girl, her childish mother and her younger sister find themselves in a strange restaurant. In this surreal way station, the manager is on drugs, the customers float and the food is free. Here, not only will their faith be put to the test, but the choices they make will either bring the family together, or pull them apart. Square Pegs is Ben Hicks' first short film. Produced and shot his final year at Columbia College in Chicago and completed after graduating.
Negotiations
(USA) 19min. DIR Ethan Cushing
As the top hostage negotiator for the Los Angeles Police Department, Tom Bennett takes his job seriously ? both on and off the clock. After his wife dies in a tragic accident for which he blames himself, Tom shuts out anything that might remind him of her, including their young son, Casey. Years later, at what starts out to be just another routine negotiation at a convenience store, Tom quickly begins to realize that something about this standoff is different.
