A pelican walks onto a beach, and observes the human species. Curious about these humans he disguises himself as a man, and learns mannerisms and the language. Families' lives have been dramatically altered by the serious problems and side effects of prescription drugs given to children and teenagers. Expert testimony includes input from doctors, teachers, psychologists who call into question current practices and the social causes such as overstressed families, unmanageable classroom sizes, poor diet, and the dangers of the ‘easy fix’ solution of prescription medication by people who did drugs in the sixties. The intellectual discussion is balanced by dramatic personal experience. A mother loses her son to government officials because she won’t put him on psychiatric medication; two young people describe their singular journeys when they’re prescribed medication; a beautiful young woman is hospitalized for newly acquired aggressive behavior. In what could be the oddest documentaries you will ever see, this is the portrait of Gordon Thomas, an 87-year-old New York singer who has been recording and independently releasing albums for the past forty years. Producing completely uncommercial music with an untrained voice, Gordon has managed to write remarkably catchy tunes that have caught the ears of a small fan base... and he is still hoping for his big break.
